Join us in this Dutch Letter Homestead event and learn hands-on skills to make your own homemade Ginger Bug - AND take it to the next level into a secondary fermentation to make Cream Soda, Root Beer, or Switchel *. This is a Van Wijk Winery co-sponsored "Live Local" event.
In this experience, you will watch a demonstration with instructions to make Ginger Bug and learn about the benefits of this probiotic rich beverage, and how to create a delicious flavored variety of drinks.
Ginger bug lets you create healthy sodas at home. A ginger bug starter culture features lactobacillus (wild bacteria), wild yeast, and like all lacto-fermented foods, this process is known to support gut-health and overall wellness.
From this experience, you will take home a jar of Ginger Bug culture and your choice of either a bottle of homemade Cream Soda, Root Beer, or Switchel, and recipes with instruction to make both. Ticket price includes the hands-on guidance and support, printed instructions, ingredients, and 2 glass containers.

Hands-On: Ticket price includes printed instructions and hands-on guidance, a quart jar of Ginger Bug, and a flip-top bottle of either homemade Cream Soda, Root Beer, or Switchel to kick-off a secondary fermentation at home.2. Observe Only: Ticket price includes the opportunity to watch the presentation and be included in the discussion points. Additionally, there will be a day-of option to upgrade your class to "Hands-On" if you choose to enhance your experience.Dutch Letter Homestead will have a kiosk in case you want to purchase extra flip-top bottles, ginger root, and other supplies to make fermented products.Love where you live!

This is a non-refundable ticket that can be transferred to another person online.
* Switchel - an old fashioned sweet, sour, and spicy beverage also known in the farming community as "hay-maker's punch". It is made of ginger, apple cider vinegar, and honey and is refreshing, invigorating, and provides electrolytes for our bodies.
