Do you rent your facility for private events?

Because Van Wijk Winery is primarily a dedicated manufacturing and production facility, we rarely rent our space for private external events. We take great pride in the craft happening behind the scenes, and our layout is designed first and foremost for winemaking.

However, we do occasionally host curated public events or semi-private gatherings exclusively for our Wine Club members. These 'vintner-led' experiences allow our community to celebrate alongside us in the heart of our production space. Can I bring my own food?

To provide the best experience for all our guests, we ask that you do not bring outside food or beverages to the estate. Instead, we’ve curated a delicious menu of local charcuterie, seasonal flatbreads, and artisan snacks specifically designed to pair with our wines, meads, and no-alcohol beverages from our onsite Bistro. How can I get my local store to carry your wine?

We love that you want to see Van Wijk Winery in your neighborhood! The best way to make it happen is to ask the manager at your local shop or favorite restaurant. Retailers pay close attention to what their customers are asking for. Does your winery include a gift shop?

We certainly do! We offer a variety of high-quality items designed to help you bring the Van Wijk Winery lifestyle home. Do you sell at festivals?

We love getting out into the community! You can frequently find Van Wijk Winery at major regional festivals and local charity galas. Do you sell at farmer's markets?

Not for the 2026 season—we’re staying close to home this year to focus on our upcoming expansion and the launch of our Wine Club this fall. However, we are actively planning our 'Market Tour' for 2028 and we’d love to have local voices representing us!

Do you love our wine and your local community? Since we’ll be looking for part-time Brand Ambassadors next year to help run our booths, we’d love to hear from you.

Do you have any upcoming events?

Yes, but they are more exclusive than ever! As we undergo an exciting expansion in 2026, we are reserving our event calendar primarily for our Wine Club members. Can I order online and make an appointment to pick up my order at the winery?

Absolutely! We love making it easy for our local fans to stock their cellars. You can browse our full collection in our [Online Store] and select 'Winery Pickup' at checkout.

Once your order is placed, a member of our team will reach out via email to coordinate a convenient time for you to stop by. This ensures someone is available to greet you and hand off your wines personally while we are busy preparing for our Fall 2026 Wine Club launch!

Does your winery offer any bulk discounts?

We do! We offer a 10% discount on any purchase of 12 bottles or more (a full case). You can mix and match any of our current releases to create your perfect case and the discount will apply automatically. Does your winery sell wholesale to resellers?

We love partnering with local businesses that share our passion for quality! We currently offer wholesale accounts to licensed retailers and restaurants throughout Iowa. What is your policy on photography?

We love seeing the estate through your lens! Personal photography and social media sharing are always encouraged during your visit. Our guests appreciate it when you and your group are also respectful of their experience. If you’re capturing your favorite moments, feel free to tag us @vanwijkwinery or use #IWijkWine. Please note that as we reveal our newest expansion for 2026, we’d love for you to document our 'behind-the-scenes' progress!

What is your return policy for bottles?

Your satisfaction is our top priority. By law, we can only accept returns or exchanges for alcoholic beverages if the product is spoiled, corked, or otherwise flawed. If you believe you have a bad bottle, please do not pour the wine out! We ask that you return the unfinished portion with the original cork within 30 days of purchase or delivery so our team can verify the flaw and provide you with a replacement or credit.

How do I cancel my membership?

We’re sorry to see you go! You may cancel your membership at any time after receiving your first two shipments. To cancel, please send a written request via our website Contact Us form at least 15 days prior to the next scheduled shipment. Please note that once a shipment has been processed, we are unable to intercept or refund that specific order. We’ll be here with a glass waiting if you ever decide to join us again!

How do I update my billing info?

For your security, we ask that you do not send credit card information via email. To update your billing details, please log in to your secure [Member Account] or give our Wine Club Manager a call at 515-402-3488. We use industry-leading encryption to ensure your financial data remains private and protected.

Do you offer tours?

Our estate tours are a very special occasion at Van Wijk Winery! We open our doors for guided tours exclusively during our Annual Harvest Party each fall. Because this is our busiest and most exciting time of year, tour spots are limited and are offered first to our Wine Club members. If you’d like to join us for this year’s tour, joining our [Interest List] is the best way to secure your spot before they open to the public.

Are dogs allowed?

We welcome four-legged visitors with a few guidelines:

  • Where: Outdoor patio and vineyard paths only.
  • Rules: Must be on a non-retractable leash and well-behaved.
  • Indoor Access: Reserved for ADA-certified service animals only.

If she is nearby when you visit, be sure to say hello to our winey mascot Betsy Ross, our Staffordshire Bull Terrier who loves to be cuddled!

Are children allowed?

We strive to offer a relaxing experience for everyone! While we are an adult-oriented venue, well-behaved children are welcome in our outdoor seating areas and patio during our standard daytime hours. We kindly ask that children remain seated with their party and under adult supervision to ensure a peaceful escape for all our visitors.

To maintain an intimate environment for our guided tastings, our indoor tasting rooms and bars are reserved exclusively for guests aged 21 and over.

Please note that to preserve a sophisticated atmosphere for our evening guests, all events held after 5:00 PM are reserved for ages 18 and over.

Do I need a reservation?

Individuals/Couples: While we always do our best to accommodate walk-in guests, reservations are highly recommended but not always required. Contacting us in advance is always greatly appreciated and helps to ensure we are staffed appropriately for your visit.

Groups: Yes, to provide the best service for all our guests, reservations are mandatory for any groups arriving by professional transportation (limos or buses) or parties larger than [6] people. We ask that you book at least [two weeks] in advance so we can prepare a dedicated host for your group.

What are the shipping costs?

Shipping costs for wine vary significantly based on the number of bottles and your location. Because wine is heavy and delicate, it is often more economical to "fill a case" to reduce the cost per bottle. Joining our Wine Club is the best way to save on shipping.

Do I need to be 21+ to sign for delivery?

Yes, an Adult Signature is Required: By law, an adult (21+) must be present to sign for the delivery.

What states do you ship to?

As of May 2026, direct-to-consumer (DTC) wine shipping is permitted in 47 states, with only Utah and Delaware maintaining full bans on direct shipments. Go to Ship Wine and enter your zip code to ensure your wine reaches you safely and legally.

What are your Tasting Room hours?

The winery Tasting Room is currently open from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (except major holidays).

How do I join the Wine Club?

We are currently preparing for the official launch of the Van Wijk Winery Wine Club later this Summer 2026! While enrollment isn't open quite yet, we are currently gathering names for our Priority Access List. Is the winery wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the main areas inside our winery are wheelchair accessible via a ramp located on the Northwest side of the winery. Accessible areas include the Tasting Room, Ballroom, two Restrooms, and an outdoor deck. Additional outdoor space includes our Courtyard and Pergolas via the South alleyway accessed from 8th Avenue.
